I have been photographing these three children for the past three years. This year their mom and dad decided to have their annual family portraits taken at York College, located in York, PA. It was the beginning of November and although there had been some cold days prior to the portrait session, the sun came out and we got a break with warmer temperatures. Photographing family portraits during the middle of the day can be challenging since the sun is directly overhead and it can create some pretty harsh shadows. Fortunately the trees still had their leaves, which were creating a stunning backdrop for the photos, and I used those a diffuser for the sunlight to soften the images. With the sun directly overhead, the sidewalk became a natural reflector with the sun bouncing off it and back onto everyone's faces. This image was taken with Canon's 5D Mark III and their 70-200mm f/2.8 lens. I always love catching up with this family and seeing how much the kids have grown in the past year. This was the first time I photographed a family at York College and it's one of my new favorite places for family portrait photography in York.
