Carmen's mother contacted me to say her daughter was interested in modeling and wanted to know if we could do a photo shoot to create a comp card for her. While this image was not included on the final comp card, it is one of my personal favorites from her portrait photography shoot at my home studio in Sparks, Maryland. We had photographed some different outfit combinations for her comp card and this final look was being considered for her headshot to be placed on the front of the comp card. This portrait was made with a Canon 5D Mark III, using their 85mm f/1.2L lens. The settings for the photo were f/11, 1/200, ISO 100. Blemishes were removed in Photoshop, contrast was added, and some final edits were done using Alien Skin Exposure X Software. To light the image I used Profoto D1 Air 500 moonlights, with the key light being modified with a Profoto white beauty dish. A reflector was used to bounce light up under her chin to keep her neck from going dark. Photography shoots for model comp cards are always fun because it's a chance to collaborate with the model, and the hair and makeup artist to create some incredible final photographs.
